It all began with a single pin.

Long before Zaltas Fine Jewelers became the thriving, woman-owned business it is today, it was simply a passion. Founder and owner Kathy Zaltas, then a Foreign Language teacher in Westchester County, NY, had an eye for distinctive, stylish jewelry. Her colleagues frequently admired her pieces and often asked her to bring back special finds from her travels.

The turning point came with a heart-shaped pin, a gift from her husband of 45 years, Fred Zaltas. When friends and colleagues began asking about the piece, Kathy sought out its designer, Liz-Tech, and began purchasing the pin for them. Recognizing her natural talent and enthusiasm, the brand invited Kathy to represent their line — marking the true beginning of her journey in fine jewelry.

As her passion evolved into a profession, Kathy immersed herself in the world of design, craftsmanship, and gemology. Though academically trained, she pursued extensive education with leading jewelers and gemologists, developing a deep expertise in diamonds, gemstones, and precious metals. She cultivated relationships with emerging designers and consistently stayed ahead of industry trends, curating collections defined by timeless elegance and refined taste.

As the business flourished through the rise of technology and social media, Kathy’s daughter, Rebecca Zaltas, joined the company. With a meticulous eye for detail and a strong command of the digital landscape, Rebecca launched and manages the brand’s e-commerce platform, guiding Zaltas seamlessly into the modern era. Together, Kathy and Rebecca combine generational insight, technical expertise, and a shared vision — thoughtfully curating and designing pieces that reflect both heritage and innovation.

Today, Zaltas Fine Jewelers stands as a testament to their partnership — a mother-daughter dream team leading a respected, woman-owned and operated business. For over 30 years, they have built a loyal clientele spanning from Westchester County, NY to Europe.
